Holiday celebrations can be tricky when you don’t drink alcohol. But just because you choose not to partake, doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun drinks for the holidays, too.
Here are a couple classic favorites that are sure to be enjoyable:
Eggnog
For the holidays, eggnog is often spiked with rum, brandy, vodka, or pretty much whatever alcohol you want. With milk, cream, sugar and cinnamon, eggnog is rich and fulfilling. Served cold, it’s creamy, sweet, and satisfying. But eggnog (if you like it, it’s just one of those things that people are VERY opinionated about) is rich, wholesome, and pretty darn good on its own. Though traditionally served with alcohol, eggnog has been served in stores alcohol-free for quite some time now. It’s meant for everyone to enjoy, drinkers or not.
Chai Tea
Chai tea is one of those special beverages that really, really speaks to the soul. Filled with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and other aromatic flavors, having a cup of chai tea is a special experience in itself.
You can drink chai tea with milk and honey, making it a sweeter, more dessert-like beverage. Or something delicious to drink in the place of alcohol. Who says an adult drink has to contain alcohol? Looseleaf or chai tea teabags are sold in many locations, but it’s not too difficult to make chai tea on your own at home. Check out this recipe for chai tea.
Cranberry-Apple Cider Punch
Not into the idea of mulled wine, or spiked cider or punch? No worries, you’ve got a nonalcoholic alternative that is sure to be a crowd pleaser, with or without alcohol. With cranberry-apple notes and fizziness, you’ll want to have cup after cup of this tangy, sweet drink.
No matter what, if you’ve got sparkling water or a fancy, fun, mocktail, you’re one step closer to making the right decision – to spend the holidays sober, healthy and happy.
