St. Patrick’s Day Safety Tips? Try a Green Milkshake Instead of Green Beer
The Feast of Saint Patrick marks the death date of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. A day of attending mass or services is what some do, but many of the rest of us drink. St Patrick’s Day has become a holiday centered around getting plastered, and many Americans enjoy green beer and green shots. For many, the bars are packed and college campuses are the place to be.
But, what if I told you the best St Patty’s Day drink doesn’t even contain alcohol? Would you believe me?
Hands down, the best St Patty’s day drink available is the Shamrock Shake. I personally believe McDonald’s does it best, but that’s just a personal opinion. You may be wondering, what is a Shamrock Shake? A Shamrock Shake is pure minty green greatness. It is a seasonal mint-flavored milkshake and only available for a limited time. It is cool, minty, and full of luck and did I forget mention … delicious?
The Shamrock Shake first appeared in 1970 and guess what? The original ingredients were completely different. The first version of the Shamrock Shake was actually vanilla ice cream with a lemon/lime flavor. In 1973, the formula switched to a vanilla shake with green coloring but now it has been meticulously crafted to everyone’s taste buds and offers a refreshing sweet mint and vanilla flavor.
St Patrick’s Day is an interesting holiday. On March 17th of every year, everyone is suddenly Irish. Wearing green is a tradition and everyone celebrates in their own ways. Many people enjoy green beer, green shots, and green Jell-O shots this St Patrick’s Day, but for me, I will be stopping at the closest McDonald’s and indulging in one of these minty delights.
