Do you ask yourself a lot of questions? Do you question yourself often?
Questions are a part of life. But if we’re constantly questioning ourselves and if the questions are preventing us from making decisions or taking actions, we might have a problem.
Constantly questioning ourselves could be a sign of low self-confidence. Building our self-confidence can be a good way to stop this questioning. Building self-confidence helps in other ways too. So many people turn to drugs and alcohol because they’re feeling poorly about themselves. They use the substances to try to forget the way they feel. But after the effects of the substances wear off, the negative feelings and the low self-confidence return.
Building our self-confidence can prevent such substance use disorder and end a lot of the nagging questions. To build our self-confidence, we could:
- spend time with supportive friends and family members.
- listen to our gut feelings when something seems wrong or right.
- remember how we’ve successfully solved problems in the past.
- tell ourselves that it’s okay to be wrong sometimes.
- remind ourselves that we can’t change our past mistakes.
- focus on the present and plan for the future.
These steps remind us that we’ve been successful in the past. They can give us confidence for the future. They keep us from dwelling on our past mistakes. They give us the confidence to make decisions instead of constantly questioning ourselves.
Listening to our gut feelings is also essential. So many times, we question things and try to justify things, even though we know what the answer is, we know the right path to take. We just have to have the confidence to give this answer and take the right path. We have to have confidence in ourselves to do the right thing.
Luckily, we can learn to be confident. This lesson can help us throughout the course of our lives.
